FAQs

How long does a fence installation take?

There are several factors that can play into the duration of a fence installation, but it is safe to say that most residential installations will take 1 or 2 days to complete.

Does your work include a warranty?

All materials used are warrantied by the manufacturer of those materials.  We offer a 3-year craftsmanship warranty on the installation of your fence.  This warranty covers installation errors only.  Fence materials can change in appearance, dimension, shape, etc. due to the natural aging process of the material and exposure to natural elements.  Defects to the fence materials caused by these natural elements are excluded from the craftsmanship warranty.

Are your fence posts set in concrete?

YES.  ALL of our fence posts are set in concrete.  The amount is determined by the size of the post.  The post holes will be on average 2′ deep and between 8″ and 10″ in diameter depending on the size of the post.   A minimum of 50 pounds of concrete will be used on each post.

Should I stain or paint my wood fence?

We highly recommend that the homeowner stain or stain/seal a newly constructed wooden fence.  We do not advise on painting the fence as the paint does not penetrate the wood.  If staining and or sealing is to be done, we recommend waiting 3 months after installation to allow the wood to complete the drying process from being pressure treated.

Do I need a survey prior to my fence installation?

We do recommend having a survey or a corner locate completed before your fence installation.  It is necessary to understand your property boundaries to ensure that your fence is located completely on your property.  We will utilize plot maps to try and locate your corner pins if necessary.  However, the homeowner is responsible for providing the information (plot map, survey, etc.) that will allow us to try and locate the property corners.

Do you contact 811 for locating underground utilities?

Yes.  We will contact 811 before your scheduled installation date.  They will typically mark your power, water, natural gas, and internet/cable lines.  Utilities that will not be located are irrigation, low voltage (outdoor lighting), propane lines run from propane tanks, etc.

Do I need a permit to have a fence installed?

There are more and more municipalities in NC that are requiring permits for fence installations.  We do recommend that you reach out to your municipality to see if permitting will be required.  We are more than happy to assist with attaining any necessary permits needed for your project.

Do you come to the property before providing an estimate?
Absolutely.  In order to provide an accurate estimate up front, we will need to see the lay of the land and anything that will prevent or deter normal installation practices.  Also, this gives us the chance to meet with each individual homeowner to understand their requirements, needs, and desires for their project.
